How does Humane Gifts work?
Every time you give a Humane Gift, you ensure that Humane Society International can continue its work creating a better world for all animals. When you buy a Humane Gift, you will receive an eCard to give to a friend, colleague, or family member. Each eCard contains information about how your gift is making a positive difference in the lives of animals around the world. Simply choose a gift, complete your order, sit back, and leave the rest to us. It's that easy.
How can I purchase a Humane Gift?
You can purchase one or several Humane Gifts on our website using your credit card.
In what currency can I make my donation?
All donations are made in U.S. dollars. We are currently working on adding other currencies.
Does my gift really go towards the purchase of the item(s) described?
Gifts made through Humane Gift are donations to Humane Society International. The values and programs described in this catalogue are representative of our many campaigns and programs. Each gift is unrestricted. We use your gifts where they can do the most good by pooling them with the gifts of others to meet Humane Society International’s most urgent needs.
What kind of cards do you have?
- Electronic cards (eCard)
- PDF cards that you can download and print
If you choose to send an eCard when you purchase your Humane Gift on the website, it is emailed directly to the recipient within 24 hours. If you prefer to download a card, a PDF file can be printed, personalized, and sent or given to the recipient by you. For best results, print PDF file at 100% scale. Do not choose "shrink to fit" or "scale to paper size" when printing.
What if I don’t want to receive any cards?
We offer you the option to not receive any cards for your gifts at the time of purchase on http://www.hsi.org/humanegifts.
If I buy a gift on behalf of a friend or family member, how will that person be notified?
You may email a Humane Gifts eCard to let friends and family members know that a gift has been given in their name. Alternatively, you can choose to download and print a PDF card, personalize it with a message, and mail or give it to your friend or family member.
Can I send a card directly to my friend?
You can send an eCard with your own personal message directly to your friend’s email account.Or, you can choose to download and print a PDF card, add a message, and send or give the card directly to your friend.
Can I get one card for multiple gifts?
No. Currently each gift receives an individual card.
Can I place a message in the card?
You can write your own personalized message in either of the card options you choose.
How long does it take for my card to be delivered?
eCards are sent within 24 hours of your purchase.
What happens if my card does not arrive?
If for some reason your eCard does not arrive, please send an email to info@hsi.org or call 301-258-3010 and we will be able to issue you a new eCard.
Will I receive a tax receipt?
When you purchase a Humane Gift, you are in fact donating to Humane Society International, which makes your gift tax deductible (to the extent permitted by law in your country). Once you have completed your purchase, we will issue a tax receipt in your name and send it by email within 24 hours.
Why is giving my email address mandatory?
Providing your email address allows us to reduce our costs, eliminates tax-receipt errors, and ensures that you get your electronic tax receipt within 24 hours. If you do not have an email address, please call 301-258-3010 and speak with one of our representatives who will help you with your order and arrange for you to receive your tax receipt by mail.
For what occasions can I send Humane Gifts?
You can send Humane Gifts for any celebratory occasion, such as weddings, anniversaries, or birthdays. Humane Gifts also make the perfect gifts for holidays or anytime you want to express your respect, gratitude, or support for family members, friends, or colleagues.
If you choose to send an eCard, you can customize the card for any occasion by filling in the blank field for "Greeting" and writing a personal message to the recipient.
How secure is my information?
Humane Society International uses an encryption to protect the transfer of personal and financial information between your browser and our servers. When using HSI’s donation pages, a small lock or key symbol in the status bar of your browser indicates that you are connected securely. Personal information and financial transactions are stored on our secure database server. Stringent security guidelines are in place to protect this data, and its use and release.
